Derick Roy

My name is Derick Roy,
I grew up in Montreal, but I moved to Quebec City to pursue my hockey aspirations and my studies at Académie St-Louis. The school offers a program that pits its hockey team against American schools, which eventually helped me join a Prep School team in the United States. I played goalkeeper at St. Paul's School in New Hampshire, where I got noticed by the coaching staff of several U.S. universities. After visiting a number of institutions, my brother Kevin and I decided to join the Northeastern University Huskies.

After playing one season of junior hockey, I will pursue my studies and play hockey at Northeastern University in Massachusetts, starting in August. Although my ultimate ambition is to play professional hockey, it’s very important to me that I continue my studies for as long as I can. Therefore, when I received an offer from Brown, one of the most prestigious universities in the U.S., I immediately accepted. I do not have to declare a major before my third year, but I’m considering medicine or law. Therefore, I must maintain a high overall average, and with current marks in the 90% range , I know I can do it.
